Supplementary fare for those travelling to Dublin Airport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NTA should facilitate leap card payment on bus<\/strong> for faster onboarding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will eventually benefit from Templeogue\/Rathfarnham Bus Corridor under BusConnects. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addition of a Blanchardstown stop will give residents there direct access to Dublin Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/futureofdublin.ie\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/induceddemand.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Direct connectivity for rest of South Dublin to Dublin Airport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce gridlock on the M50 and free up space at airport car park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directly intersect with BusConnects spines, Luas and Park &amp; Ride services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help Ireland meet it&#8217;s <strong>Climate Goals<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduction in air pollution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduction in fuel poverty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduction in noise pollution from M50<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gives young people transport independence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.atraccion360.com\/media\/aa\/1439806239_733101_1439814632_sumario_normal.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Load Factor: <\/strong>A previous Aircoach along this route was ultimately pulled due to poor uptake. A new service would need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Careful marketing and social media strategy to inform public of route availability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Addition of route onto TFI Live route planner and Google Maps <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add route information to Ryanair and Aer Lingus websites.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of 90 minute fare for passengers travelling between Ballinteer and Spawell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Real-time information at dedicated bus stops<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addition of Park &amp; Ride services at locations such as DDTC and Spawell.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"401\" src=\"https:\/\/futureofdublin.ie\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/46ad3cb79256db14c8487996134b679e.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/futureofdublin.ie\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/46ad3cb79256db14c8487996134b679e.jpg 800w, https:\/\/futureofdublin.ie\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/46ad3cb79256db14c8487996134b679e-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/futureofdublin.ie\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/46ad3cb79256db14c8487996134b679e-768x385.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Part of the Spawell Car Park could be used as a Park &amp; Ride for new bus routes<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attractiveness: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Park and Ride at Spawell to facilitate larger passenger uptake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contactless payment with leap card speeds up passenger onboarding<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dublin Airport could passengers pay an M50 surcharge of just 3 euro<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ample space for luggage on provider services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bus Shelters and real-time info at every location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Online reservation availability <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Speed:<\/strong> The 16 bus route which travels to Dublin Airport has over 60 stops many of which are in busy city centre areas. This takes too much time. The new route would have between 10-15 stops and through the usage of the M50 have a time saving of over 40%.
